Wamalug: Event: September 6–7, 2025: Family Day: USMC LEGO Showcase at the National Museum of the Marine Corps

National Museum of the Marine Corps
18900 Richmond Highway
Triangle, Virginia

Wamalug was joined by people from NOVA-LUG and Charm City LUG to display creations in line with this year’s celebration of the 250th anniversary of the Marine Corps.

From NOVA-LUG, Anthony had mosaics and a minifig-scale landing craft and the raising of the flag at Iwo Jima, Cameron had a “small unit riverine craft” and an unlabeled field of some sort, while James had a vignette of a field of remembrance and a large, minifig-scale model of the Tun Tavern.

From Charm City LUG, Ben had two seagoing vessels with multi-story interiors and several land vehicles, Caden had many vignettes of battles, and Chris had the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

From Wamalug, Tyler had aircraft in two scales and a land vehicle, Sherry had a large mosaic of the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor, Bret modeled Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in miniature, Gary had a War of 1812 battle scene, Evan had his huge Sikorsky CH-53K King Stallion helicopter with spinning rotors and smaller land vehicles, while Constantine brought his arrival scene at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego with the yellow footprints and a Blue Bird bus, and a lot of HMMWVs.

Scott, an unaffiliated first-timer, had a large, motorized, and lit amphibious landing scene from World War II and numerous other land vehicles, rotary-winged aircraft and fixed-wing aircraft.

Wamalug is not responsible for the crayon trope, but both James and Tyler incorporated the “humor” in their creations.
