Mike (Harrod) was Coordinator for the Festival of Trees Wreath Project which on this day called for a wreath and ornament build for donation to the KKI Festival of Trees 2004 in November. In the 10699th message to the mailing list, he thanked everyone who came to assist with building the wreath, made completely of LEGO® elements, and the ornaments to go on it.

I’d also like to thank Abe and Tony for taking on the task of reassembling the wreath, Joe and Christina for devising a way (or WAYS?) to securely attach the ornaments to the wreath, and to Michael for agreeing to deliver the wreath to the Festival of Trees site on November 21/22. I’d also like to thank Bob Hayes for the initial design/rendering of the wreath in LDraw.

For those of you who don’t already know, the Maryland Festival of Trees is a celebration meant to kick off the holiday season in the Baltimore area. Benefitting the Kennedy Krieger Institute, volunteer ‘designers’ donate wreaths, trees and gingerbread houses for sale at the festival. The proceeds from the sale benefit the children of KKI, which deals primarily with pediatric brain disorders.

Because a number of ornaments were left over, Christina agreed to obtain a more traditional wreath (a surprisingly inexpensive artificial wreath, she reported later) and assembly of this second wreath was planned for the next WAMALUG monthly meeting.
